Explore Dinosaurs with Augmented Reality Flashcards
Step into the prehistoric world with Dinosaur 4D+, an interactive set of augmented reality flashcards that brings dinosaurs to life in 3D. Scan a card with the free companion app and watch dinosaurs appear on your table, move around the room, and respond with lifelike animations and sound effects. It is a hands-on way to turn curiosity into learning, whether you are teaching at home, supporting classroom topics, or looking for an educational gift that actually gets used.
Designed for children who love dinosaurs, these dinosaur learning cards combine physical cards with digital exploration. If you are searching for dinosaur flashcards, an educational AR activity, or a STEM learning toy that feels more like play than study, Dinosaur 4D+ is built for exactly that.
How It Works
- Download the free Dinosaur 4D+ app on iOS or Android.
- Activate using the code included with your set (supports up to three devices).
- Scan a dinosaur card to launch the 3D model in augmented reality.
- Explore using simple, child-friendly controls.
Once the app has been downloaded and activated, it can be used offline. This makes Dinosaur 4D+ ideal for travel, restaurants, waiting rooms, and any time you want a screen-based activity that still feels meaningful.
Learn Through Play (Without the “Homework” Feeling)
The learning content lives inside the free Dinosaur 4D+ app. When a card is scanned, children can open a built-in fact file with clear, age-appropriate information about each dinosaur, including habitat, diet, behaviour, and size.
A dedicated human size comparison helps children understand scale by showing how each dinosaur compares to a person. Combined with the augmented reality experience, this makes abstract facts easier to grasp because children can see and interact with the dinosaurs rather than only reading about them.
- STEM learning through exploration and curiosity-led discovery.
- Natural history support for dinosaur topics, projects, and lessons.
- Vocabulary development through dinosaur names and descriptive language.
- Creative play that encourages imagination and storytelling.
Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality Modes
Dinosaur 4D+ includes both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) viewing modes. In AR mode, dinosaurs appear in your real environment, allowing children to walk around them, view them from different angles, and place them on everyday surfaces.
VR mode offers a more focused viewing option, giving children another way to explore the dinosaur models. Simple controls allow users to rotate, zoom, and reposition each dinosaur with ease.

I was a little sceptical when I purchased these cards thinking they would not be as good as the sales pitch, well I have to say I was amazed at the look and actions one my app. My only criticism would be it is a shame you cannot stand a little further away from the card to get a better picture, but that is being a bit picky, we are getting the space cards next as our grandson loves these so much.
Fabulously surprising and absolutely treasured collection of dinosaur cards. The birthday sensation for a four year old. And also the seventy year old grandpa!
They arrived today and I was eager to see what they were like as my grandson really love dinosaurs. I wasn’t disappointed -
I only set it up on my iPhone for now but he has his own iPad so will set this up when he is next up. I know he will love it. I will look into buying more if available.
Cars 4D+ Augmented Reality Cards by Octagon Studio========================================A great set of cards. I was initially very unimpressed by the very old vehicles on show on the cards - I mean the models are so old and american, they look like the cars you might see in an old black and white movie. I grudgingly eased up a little seeing the AR models appear on the phone (you need to download the Cars 4D app first). They appear superimposed on top of the camera so as you move around you see your room and it looks like the car is actually there. It even picks up more than one car consecutively if it recognises the cards. It gets even more interesting when you pick the drive mode - you can actually “drive” each of those vehicles using a virtual wheel , ignition switch, drive and reverse stick, gas and brake pedals. Super fun and super weird. If that's not enough, you can create tracks and virtual obstacles and then drive your virtual vehicle through them. Although they sell other packs with animals, dinosaurs, alphabet, colouring etc they don't seem to have a racing car one, or one with more up to date models - I would love to see a super cars one, but then these cards are possibly only really targeted for younger minds? although I still found these old car cards quite entertaining. I certainly wouldn't complain if I found these in my xmas stocking. Currently selling for 7.20
These Augmented Reality (AR) dinosaur cards are absolutely awesome. A couple of the reviews said they didn't work well or were difficult to use. It's possible they've improved the app since then, but I found them very easy to use and very reliable. The quality of the models and animations is very high, arguably just a notch or two below Jurassic Park movie quality. The app downloads for free in just a few minutes. The cards come with a serial number to unlock the app, which can be loaded onto a total of three devices. I tested it on an iPhone SE and an iPhone X. If the time comes to get a new device, you can unregister the serial number from the old device and transfer it to the new one.The pack of cards contains 20 prehistoric creatures (not all of them are technically dinosaurs), with the exact list included in the attached photos. All the popular dinos are there, with the exception of Stegosaurus. Once the smartphone (or iPad) camera focuses on the name printed on the card, the creature magically appears on top of the card. I found it works best to lay the card down on a stationary surface, such as a desktop, but the phone can be handheld without any problems. Moving the phone around changes your view of the creature accordingly, and you can also scale it up by touching your thumb and forefinger to the screen. I discovered you can activate multiple creatures simultaneously by carefully arranging the cards so that they're all in focus.Once brought to life, each creature fidgets and moves, in addition to having one or two "actions" which you can activate, such as roaring, walking in place, rearing up on its hind legs, flapping its wings, etc. There's also a "fun fact" which you can bring up on the screen. In addition, the T. rex, Giganotosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Triceratops have two extra modes - Skeleton and Drive. Skeleton toggles the skin and muscles off to reveal just the dinosaur's skeleton going through the motions. Drive mode allows you to make the dino walk in a specified direction, so you can make it leave its card and amble around your desktop.Independent of the cards, the app also comes with Virtual Reality scenes featuring five of the creatures. To be honest, it's a half-hearted effort, with the forest backgrounds being blurry and only the creatures themselves being in sharp focus. The sensor limitations of the smartphone also limit the effectiveness of the virtual reality - you can't, for example, move from one side of the animal to the other; sitting in a swivel chair and tilting your head up and down are the only perspective changes each scene can accommodate. If you don't already own a smartphone virtual reality headset, it's not worth purchasing one just for this. Having said that, my favorite VR scenes were the ones with Triceratops and Giganotosaurus. There's also a combination AR/VR mode which splits the AR card effect into two images, to be used with a virtual reality headset. Here, though, the VR headset has to be one which doesn't block the phone's camera. Since the camera only has one lens, there's no 3D effect - I believe the point is to be able to view the cards and change your viewing perspective "hands-free".There's also a "Holo Mode" which shows the animal simultaneously from the front, back, and both sides. It's meant to be used in conjunction with a device called a HoloPrism, which must be purchased separately. If you plan on showing the dinosaurs to several people at once gathered around the table, this will prove useful. Finally, the app includes a library of the same 20 creatures, with additional information about each, separated into pre-school and 1st-3rd grade learning levels. Also included is a visual size comparison of each animal to an adult human. This last element is fascinating in itself, driving home how big some of these dinos really were.
A great educational product. So far I have bought the dinosaurs, space and (animal from different supplier) packs. My daughter and nephew loves them. Learning whilst having fun. Great for imaginative play (see photos).Additionally, great customer service. There was a packing error with the original order, which the seller promptly addressed outside of office hours, received the other pack with 1 working day.
Got these for my daughter because she loves dinosaurs. They're a little too real for a 3 year old (heck! even for me!) but they're awesome for older kids. I wish there were more cards but the ones we received in the packet are great. There's great features like the ability to make some of te dinosaurs move with a joystick and seeing their skeletons! And it's also nice to hear the dinosaur names pronounced!
Awesome company to work with!! Will purchase from again!
My 3 yr old son loves them!!
There brilliant, I got them for my great grandchildren but had a sneaky preview and found them very educational
Excellent product, speedy delivery, my son absolutely loves it, highly recommended
Was very slow on dispatch as should of been delivered on 1st of August yet got them on the 18th
Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback, and I'm sorry the wait was frustrating.
We opened the Expanded Edition for pre-order precisely so people wouldn't miss out on it, and we flagged the late August ship-by date on the product page, at checkout and again on your order confirmation. Your set went out in mid August, ahead of that date.
That said, I appreciate that waiting for something you're looking forward to is no fun whatever the timeline. Now that the cards are with you, I'd love to know what you and the family make of them. If your view has shifted, we'd be grateful if you'd revisit your rating on the cards themselves, and if there's anything at all not right with them, just let us know :)
Think these are excellent. Great idea.
grandson loves them
My grandkids love dinosaurs. I bought this pack and they can't get enough. They love the action mode. I like the comtatary with the correct pronunciation of each dinosaur. The graphics are very clean and engaging. Overall, really fun interactive and engaging activity.
I had an issue with my order and they were very quick to fix the problem. Great company to deal with.
It is very cool products and cant wait to show my autistic grandson next month.
Never received. Reached out and nothing was done. Showed delivered, but who knows where the delivery service left it. Worthless
Hi Joann, we replied on both occasions you contacted us. You messaged on 30 July and again on 3 August, and each time we came back within a few hours and had a full conversation with you about it.
The house number entered at checkout was incorrect and we only had the replacement address after the parcel had shipped. Once a parcel is with the courier, only the recipient can redirect it, so we sent you the tracking link and the steps to do that, and confirmed we would refund in full if it came back to us. The courier's proof of delivery photo shows it was left with your next door neighbour, so it is well worth knocking.
If an address ever needs correcting, message us before dispatch and we can change it in seconds.
Got is as a present for my nephew, he loved it
Absolutely brilliant grandkids love them
Amazing product. My dino mad grand daughter loves them
My grandson absolutely loves these cards and the app that goes with them. He’s 5 and can use the app independently. He also loves setting the cards up so he can see two dinosaurs at the same time. Highly recommend for dino-loving kids and adults!
My grandson loves it!
